SEO and GEO

Visibility in Google and in the answers AI gives.

Some of your customers no longer type a phrase into a search box. They ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for a recommendation. Those are two different channels and they need two different things. I work on both.

I want an audit of my site

What you get

  • An audit: what blocks the site technically and which phrases it can realistically win
  • Technical SEO: speed, structured data, sitemap, redirects, indexing
  • Content structured around phrases people actually search for
  • Local SEO: Google Business Profile, consistent company data, reviews
  • GEO: content formatted the way generative engines cite, plus an llms.txt file
  • Analytics and Search Console so the results are visible
  • A monthly report with no filler and no meaningless charts

Who it is for

  • Local businesses whose customers arrive through search
  • Sites that exist but never appear for their own industry terms
  • Companies that lost rankings after a redesign
  • Anyone who wants to be recommended by AI before a competitor is

How long it takes

Audit: 7–10 working days. On ongoing work, technical effects land after 4–8 weeks and traffic grows noticeably from the third month.

How I approach this

What GEO is

GEO, or generative engine optimisation, means preparing content so language models cite your business when answering users' questions. It works differently from SEO: what counts is an unambiguous, specific answer at the start of a section, named facts, numbers, and consistent company data across the web. A model does not click links or weigh their authority — it looks for a passage worth quoting.

How long it takes

The first effects of technical work usually show after 4–8 weeks, because that is how long Google needs to reprocess the site. Real movement on competitive phrases takes 3–6 months. Anyone promising first place in a month is either guessing or targeting a phrase nobody searches for.

What I do not do

I do not buy links from farms, generate dozens of near-identical pages for every nearby town, or stuff text with keywords. That worked a decade ago; today it ends in a penalty that is hard to recover from. I would rather ship fewer pages with real value than a hundred that do damage.
