Personal project

A voice agent that answers the call and leaves a note.

I built an agent that takes a phone call, follows a script, identifies why the person is calling and records the outcome together with a transcript. A human gets a finished record instead of listening through voicemail.

The problem it solves

In a small business a missed call is usually a lost customer. Voicemail works badly: few people leave a message and fewer still listen promptly. The questions are also repetitive: opening hours, free slots, price, location.

How it works

  1. 1The call reaches the agent, which greets the caller and follows an agreed script
  2. 2The agent identifies the reason for the call and asks for anything missing
  3. 3The whole conversation is transcribed and summarised into a few sentences
  4. 4The result lands in a database as a record with contact details, reason and a suggested next step
  5. 5Anything outside the script is flagged for urgent human contact

Flow: incoming call, scripted conversation, transcription, summary, record saved and callback flagged.

What I would refine for a client

For a client deployment I would add two things: a connection to a real calendar so the agent could offer actual free slots, and a confidence threshold below which the call is handed to a person immediately. In this version the script is rigid, and that is its main limitation.

Do you have a similar process?

Describe it in a few sentences. I will tell you whether it can be automated and what it would cost — including when the answer is that it is not worth it.
